In the field of biofuels, Abener builds plants that produce bioethanol and biodiesel from various kinds of biomass and have installed more than 2.5 billion liters of capacity over the last few years.
In 2010, Abener completed construction work on three bioethanol plants: two in the United States and the other in Rotterdam, Holland, which is currently the largest in Europe. This year, it began construction on a second-generation bioethanol plant in Hugoton, Kansas (USA), which will be the first plant of its kind to operate on a commercial scale.
